Divorce mediation is a non-adversarial form of dispute resolution, where the mediator helps the parties define the issues that are important to them and assists them in reaching an amicable resolution to those issues.
Complementary Visit
The first step in this process is contacting Hughes Mediation to schedule a 30 minute complimentary visit. During this first visit, the clients outline the issues most relevant to their situation. Michele explains the ground rules and how most mediation sessions work.
The mediator is a third-party neutral and does not allow information from either party separately before this joint appointment (including by email).
Working Together
Typically couples choose to work in 90 minute or two hour sessions with an agreement often reached in three or four sessions.
The mediator will write up the final memorandum of agreement as the basis to an uncontested divorce.
Moving Forward
This final agreement, which is not reliant on judicial constraints, can be as creative as the parties find useful. This type of agreement is effective and long lasting, allowing the parties to move forward in the best way possible.
